One of the most underrated and overlooked areas of the house is the driveway. This is ironic because this is the perfect spot to leave a great impression on visitors especially for the upcoming reunions this holiday season. Setting up an aesthetically-pleasing yet functional driveway is the perfect welcome for family, friends, and colleagues to one’s lovely home.
When it comes to driveways, there is a multitude of topics to cover. This will involve the material to be used, the design, and the combinations that the homeowner can choose from. It is because the driveway is not exclusively for cars but it can also serve as a path, patio, garden, or even gravel. Whatever the purpose it may serve, here are some of the driveway ideas 2022 to inspire that renovation project.
Common Materials Used for Driveways
Before getting into detail on the trendy design ideas this year, it is vital to get to know the different materials commonly used to renovate driveways and choose the one that will work best to achieve the desired functionality of this area in your home.
Aggregate
As an increasing number of home furnishings have started since the start of the pandemic. It remained one of the top industries for the past two years and is still going to this day. One of the top trends that arose at the time is using the material aggregate for renovated driveways.
Some of the benefits of using aggregate is that it has a non-slip surface which is perfect for driveways. It is also a durable material and is expected to last long. Lastly, it creates a beautiful texture that can come in a range of attractive colors, shades, and sizes. No wonder it became a trend; it only needed people to find out about it and hop on the home renovation frenzy.
Asphalt
In the Philippines, asphalt is one of the most common materials being used for road construction. Many people in the field will attest on the superior value for money that asphalt has with its safe, smooth finish and extra durability. This makes asphalt, this dark yet smooth paved material, also a popular option for driveway renovations.
Driveways built using asphalt are expected to last indefinitely. On top of this, asphalt is fast to construct and maintain compared to most materials in the market.
Concrete
Alongside asphalt is another common material in construction which is concrete. Like the former, it is also durable, permanent, resistant to decay, and definitely will last long. It is a material that requires little maintenance over time.
Unlike asphalt though, concrete is more versatile. Homeowners can opt for a poured concrete or stamped concrete. The poured one is pretty self-explanatory, while the latter is created using moulds that are being “stamped” while the concrete is setting. This gives the concrete a look of a different material, usually the more premium ones such as brick or stone for the renovated driveway.
Interlocking Pavers
If you are a homeowner who lacks enough manpower to work on an entire driveway, you can use a material that is easy to install. On top of the list of commonly used materials for home DIY projects is interlocking pavers. It is also quite easy to maintain, not as easy as asphalt or concrete but it can be considered medium-maintenance and adaptable over time.
This is also a perfect alternative for those who want cobblestones for their driveway design but are on a budget. Interlocking pavers look like cobblestone but way cheaper and can be arranged using combinations that will match the aesthetic of your home.
Resin
Homeowners who want a clean, smooth finish for their driveway, resin is the new and trendy material that hit the market. It is being used mainly for block-paving as it provides a notable aesthetic to one’s home. This also frees up homeowners from the worry of having loose stones clogging up their driveway.
Overall, resin is one of the options that requires lowest maintenance. It is expected to last long as it is a hard-wearing and durable material. On top of these, it is eco-friendly, it naturally drains water, and offers versatile design choices.
Tarmac
For those who are on a limited budget, an option they can look into is tarmac which is a great alternative for asphalt. This material is skid-resistant and is way cheaper to install than other materials. Since it is more affordable material that its counterparts, it does not provide the same smooth finish but can be enhanced through various methods.
Tarmac is a material known for being suitable for hotter weather. It also requires minimal maintenance and can also be versatile according to the homeowners’ desired aesthetic.
2022 Ideas To Make Your Driveway Trendy
Now that you have the basic idea on commonly used materials on driveways, here are some of the ideas that emerged from 2022 to spruce up your driveway and make it brand new.
Block Paving Driveway Ideas
Usually with the use of concrete, block paving is making a hard surface that is durable, low-maintenance, comfortable to walk on, and aesthetically pleasing. This method is suitable not just for driveways but also for pedestrian areas and commonly trafficked areas such as aircraft hard-standing and container ports.
Paving blocks are products that are fully engineered and manufactured in factory setting, to help in ensuring the accuracy and consistency. Although, designers for block paving can also tap into its versatility by changing the colors, texture, and shapes to help in distinguishing the purpose of the surface. For large installation such as public roads, machinery are being utilized to save on both time and energy.
Even though block paving has been a method used for years, a trend that arose since 2020 is the use of light grey blocks that border and somehow edge the driveway and other central features of the home such as a roundabout, fountain, lawn, or pathway. A classic move is also using a dark grey paving block to fill in the remaining area which ensures a pleasing aesthetic that stands out whatever the trend is.
Monoblock Driveway Ideas
A monoblock driveway is another interesting design combination that recently arose amidst the pandemic. As the term implies, a monoblock driveway involves the use of two tones to create interesting patterns and textures. These two tones can consist of entirely different materials or two colors of the same material.
A few of the popular monoblock driveway combinations include a tarmacked driveway with gray block paving. Some opt for a dark resin driveway with light monoblock edging and borders. There are also homeowners who try out a large stone pathway slabs on top of a slate gravel driveway. Some of our favorites include gray and cream bricks that has bordering walls and a natural stone driveway with brick edging that borders a lawn.
Stone Driveway ideas
If you have a fascination with stone blocks, gravel, pebbles, marble chips, or river rocks, you are in luck because there are currently on trend for driveway ideas 2022.
The items mentioned above are all types of stone driveway materials which are great options for homeowners who want to create a more custom driveway. Some pair it with other materials such as concrete stamps, stepping stones, or block paved borders. Stones are on top of the list for attractive and famous materials due to their durability and low maintenance requirements.
There are absolutely a bunch of pairing that will go well with stone materials. You can consider throwing in some ground lights, a few potted greenery, and with a pathway that will immediately turn your driveway from a snore to a stone throne you usually see on period films.

“Once upon a time, forests were repositories of magic for the human race.”
–John Burnside, Scottish Writer
Forests are considered as magical places for some people, especially for the children.
Moreover, forests are considered a wonderful place because of the tranquility it brings to people.
The concept “forest city” refers to urban plans that are developed to combine urban infrastructures with local vegetation that is native to the ecosystem in which the city will be crafted.
The forest city has some features of current urban fashion trends as well.
The notion of the smart city planners embracing the concept of increasing the percentage of green areas is what gave rise to the concept of forest cities in the first place.
The proportion of forest to city can be increased in two ways.
The first way is through the preservation of forested areas that are already present, whether they are interior, nearby, or remote; second, through the implementation of urban planning proposals that bring back forests to cities, like green gardens or urban micro-forests.
The first method was introduced by the coalition of 84 cities known as City4Forests.
In its purest form, a forest city is a type of natural symbiotic city or area.
Rather than annihilating the surrounding habitat, a forest city takes advantage of the natural environment’s many positive attributes.
Here are the Advantages of a Forest City:
1.) Forest Cities Bring Green Spaces for Quality Life
Lowering emissions of greenhouse gases while simultaneously enhancing air quality.
The presence of vegetation has been shown to act as an agent that, while it might not be able to completely eliminate air pollution, it does help to mitigate its effects.
The greater the amount of green space, the higher the quality of life.
It has been demonstrated that the presence of green spaces contributes to the overall wellbeing of the people who live in the surrounding area.
There is a connection between mortality and trees, green spaces, and other green environments, and this connection is reported in the literature.
Having a greater number of trees, particularly those of the appropriate mature species that have been planted in the appropriate locations, has the potential to lower levels of particulate matter and other types of air pollution, which may in turn lower the mortality rates and morbidity in the urban centers.
In addition to reducing atmospheric pollution, the presence of trees has a variety of additional direct and indirect positive effects on human health and wellbeing.
There is a significant correlation between the presence of trees and other forms of greenery in the environment and lower levels of depressive symptoms, as well as higher levels of happiness and overall life satisfaction.
2.) Forest Cities Bring Good Economy
Trees offer many ecosystem services that can be beneficial to the environment of a city, ranging from lowering the amount of energy used and removing pollution to raising the value of property, fostering the growth of the local economy, and providing support for tourism.
It is approximated that trees alone across the United States can provide annual value of $18.3 billion owing to the fact that they remove air pollution, reduce the amount of energy used in building construction, sequester carbon, and prevent the emission of pollutant gases.
The numerous benefits and important ecological functions that trees offer make it possible for there to be a positive return on investment from investing resources in tree planting and maintenance.
The above high return on investment can be several times the amount of capital invested over the course of time.
The said return on investment does not take into account all of the potential benefits.
Additionally, the presence of shade trees can slow the rate at which roads and pavement surfaces age, encourage customers to visit a shopping district, and raise the price at which a home can be sold.
A quality landscape that includes trees that are properly maintained can result in a rise in rental rates, provided that the trees do not obstruct the view of an office building.
A tree that has been planted correctly can cut down on the amount of energy that is consumed, which in turn can lower the cost of monthly energy bills.
3.) Forest Cities Bring Abundant Resources
A community not only stands to gain economically from trees in the city, but it also stands to gain other resources, including food, from them.
The concept that trees can both contribute to a sense of well-being and provide food security is not a novel one.
In point of fact, agroforestry was historically acknowledged as a means to achieve the Millennium Development Goals set forth by the United Nations.
Agroforestry is the practice of using a variety of tree species to help ensure the long-term availability of food and adequate nutrition.
People who are in need of nutrient-dense food have access to urban orchards, also known as urban food forestry, which can be an effective way to reliably provide food at no cost or at a reduced price.
Residents of the cities can benefit from the trees that line urban streets in many different ways. In New York City, 88 percent of the tree species that are present are usable for things like food, medicine, and other things, and 9 out of 10 of the most prevalent tree species are included in this number.
The “Incredible Edible” movement is a good illustration of how vacant plots of land in urban settings can be utilized to cultivate food as a means of reducing the number of “food deserts” and fostering community.
The cultivation of urban orchards in vacant lots has the potential to be a useful strategy for combating hunger while also strengthening community ties.
According to Larondelle and Strohbach, urban foraging isn’t always done in places where there are more opportunities, and as a result, it does not always get the attention it deserves as a potential solution for food security.
The benefits that trees provide to both people and the planet cannot be overstated.
Multiple studies have shown that the presence of trees and urban nature can enhance the mental and physical health of people, as well as students ’ attention and exam results, the real estate values in a neighborhood, and a variety of other factors.
Our cities’ urban centers are cooled by trees. The presence of trees is critical to the health of both people and communities.
With this said, don’t you think it is crucial to live in a community filled with trees?
Vista Alabang is a luxurious community surrounded by greens.
The luxurious residences of Portofino Heights, Portofino South, and Amore are encircled by verdant landscapes and open areas that have been made even more stunning by Greenscape, which is an in-house landscape management system at Brittany Corporation.
Be prepared to be amazed by the distinctive courtyards that are complemented by Italian architectural details such as cupolas, gabled roofs, and pocket gardens.
In addition, for the sake of both aesthetics and safety, every community has all of its power, cable, and communication lines buried completely below ground. ‘
As a result of this, additional room has been made available for sidewalks and trees.
The property owners were able to take advantage of every amenity that was available, including those geared toward relaxation, recreation, and socializing.
You won’t have to deal with any noise or air pollution when you get up in the morning. Portofino is the place to go for a luxurious lifestyle.

According to Dictionary.com, privacy is the state of being apart from other people or concealed from their view.
Furthermore, it says that privacy is the state of being free from unwanted or undue intrusion or disturbance in one’s private life or affairs; freedom to be let alone.
While being in the comfort of our homes, we should always feel that we are safe and our privacy is not being invaded.
You have many ways to protect our privacy in the houses, such as setting up surveillance cameras, and fences perhaps.

For sure, you will be able to select one of the best backyard trees in this list that you can plant.
1.) Leyland Cypress As Backyard Trees
The Leyland Cypress is an attractive evergreen tree that grows quickly and has a full, solid coverage that makes it among the most widely known trees for privacy.
The height of the Leyland Cypress has been documented, these trees can grow to a height of 15 meters or 50 feet) within only 15 years.
These trees produce an impenetrable volume of branches when cultivated in a row, which makes them excellent trees for screening wind, snow, and even noise when planted in a row.
The trees’ high salt tolerance tends to make it an excellent choice for use as a screening tree in coastal areas.
The Leyland Cypress is a tree that can withstand temperatures as low as zero degrees Fahrenheit.
Because of their shallow root systems, these trees are not well able to adapt to warm summers and are prone to root decay.
However, they are one of the fast growing evergreen trees and are fantastic for defining property boundaries as a natural privacy fence.
The Leyland Cypress do best in areas that are spacious, have good drainage, and the average temperatures that are mild to moderate.
The Leyland Cypress is resistant to insects, drought, and even air pollution.
Did you know that the Leyland Cypress is a sterile hybrid? The backyard trees are being produced in large numbers in order to meet the demand for the Christmas tree plantations, windbreaks, and boundary lines where they can be planted.
These beautiful trees also enhances the aesthetic value of the landscape in residential neighborhoods, on college campuses, and in public parks.
2.) Eastern Redcedar As Backyard Trees
The Eastern Redcedar is the perfect conifer for you if you are looking for a huge, rugged privacy tree that offers complete coverage.
Because of its resilience, the Eastern Redcedar is an excellent choice for a tree fence.
The backyard will also emit an earthy scent thanks to the red, aromatic wood that it has.
Moreover, it will draw local birds as well as other wildlife thanks to its thick foliage.
When it first emerges from the soil, an eastern redcedar seedling has a taproot that penetrates the ground.
However, as the plant matures, it advances an extensive root system that is fibrous and shallow.
This gives it the ability to live on outcrops and in soil that is shallow.
The height of the tree’s crown increases by 1 to 2 feet annually on a single trunk.
It reaches an adult height of approximately 40 to 50 feet and a width of 8 to 20 feet, becoming rounder as it ages.
3.) Green Giant Thuja (Arborvitae) As Backyard Trees
Because it is widely regarded as being one of the greatest trees for achieving privacy, the Green Giant Thujas are also popular choices for backyard trees.
The thujas can withstand low temperatures, grow at a lightning-fast rate, and quickly create a private space.
The trees are resistant to the majority of diseases and pests and are able to live in a wide variety of climatic conditions.
Because of their symmetrical, conical shape and steady annual growth rate of three to five feet, they make an excellent choice for the tree privacy fence that demands so little pruning to keep looking its best.
Furthermore, you can regularly trim the tops to achieve an appearance reminiscent of the French Renaissance, or you can choose to do nothing and go for a more natural appearance.
You can plant Thuja Giant Trees in clusters to form a dense hedge.
You can build a natural fence by planting one tree every 5-6 feet to shield you from the neighbors, unsightly views, or even the busy streets.
There is also the possibility of utilizing two spaced rows of trees with the distance of 10 feet between each row.
This substantial living privacy screen can also serve the purpose of acting as a wind break.
The Thuja Green Giant is by far the most well-known and widely used hedge plant that has ever been developed.
The Thuja Green Giant is the most well-known and effective privacy tree in the United States.
The Thuja Green Giant is the offspring of two backyard trees that originated on different continents and were brought together on a fourth.
4.) Hybrid Willow Tree
When planted in rows, the hybrid willow trees as backyard trees serve as an effective windbreak due to their rapid growth.
The tree will astound you with its astonishingly rapid growth rate of approximately 12 feet per year, ultimately reaching a full grown height of approximately 30-40 feet tall, and take note of this, in just less than 5 years!
Because of the tree’s thick undergrowth in the summer, and its profusion of branches throughout the winter, it makes an excellent barrier against the wind.
The false assumption that a tree that loses its leaves during the winter will not be an effective windbreak causes one of the most common questions regarding Hybrid Willow trees to be whether or not they are deciduous.
Even though it loses its leaves during the winter, the tree is still able to perform its function as a windbreak thanks to the abundant branch growth that it possesses.
Since these trees are bred quickly, they are able to form a thick wall that blocks out people and other pollutants, such as noise.
5.) Pine Trees
Evergreen pine trees, which belong to the genus Pinus, are classified as conifers because they yield cones that enclose reproduction seeds.
Although pine trees can be found in every region of the world, their natural habitat is in the northern temperate zones.
There is a wide variety of pines that are able to endure harsh environments, such as the rainforests and the deserts.
For the pine trees to thrive best, they must be in a mountainous area that receives favorable rainfall and has soil that is rich in nutrients.
The pine tree loses its older needles during the autumn season, but it keeps some of its foliage throughout the year.
For certain pine species, regular fire is necessary to ensure healthy population growth.
Pine trees will not only protect your privacy, but make your yard look elegant as well.
With this said, don’t you think it would be nice to live in a house with pine trees?
Imagine going outside of your house, then enjoying nature’s view; all the while not having to worry about your privacy.

Are you still looking for a place to celebrate New Year’s Day? Then add Baguio City to the list because it just might be one of the most accessible places to spend the upcoming holidays in.
Holidays in the Philippines
The holidays towards the end of the year are the most eventful in the Philippines. It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year to the extent that all the festivities to welcome the season start as early as September. By this time, families started to make grand plans how to make their celebration extra special.
However, even if there are festive cheer all around, there is also a downside to it. As December arrives, the traffic in Manila is known to be horrible. Even during the wee hours of the night, there are still plenty of private and public vehicles slugging around the metro with people attending late-night parties or making last-minute shopping in preparation for the holidays. This problem alone is tedious enough that many families opt to spend the holidays somewhere else instead, specifically somewhere outside Metro Manila.
Baguio During The Holidays
One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines is Baguio City. Also known as the City of Pines, it is the perfect venue that reminds visitors of their favorite Christmas movie scene. The cold climate, the majestic pine trees, and the need for clothing layers is the trifecta of a holiday-themed vacation.
Thinking of spending the holidays in Baguio? Here are some of the reasons why you should spend New Year’s Day in the city of Baguio with your family this year.
Cold Climate
Baguio is the place to be when one needs a break from the notorious Philippine heat. The average temperature in Baguio towards the end of the year can drop as low as 12° celsius. It might be not that cold for foreigners coming from a country with four seasons but for Filipinos living in this tropical country, that temperature is super cold.
During the hottest time of the year, every summer, the temperature in Baguio barely reaches 30° celsius. This earned its other famous title which is being the ‘Summer Capital of the Philippines’ because many flock to this area to escape the summer heat. In fact, Baguio is a popular vacation spot for all seasons. There is always a crowd visiting this sanctuary whatever the weather is. Whether for the holidays or just a regular weekend getaway, Baguio is the place to be to relax and unwind.
Great Food with Fresh Produce
One of the important Filipino traditions during the holidays is munching on a special feast with the family on Noche Buena and Media Noche. Now, people might be concerned how to keep this tradition if they will be spending the holidays outside the home.
Do not fret! Baguio City is actually a place where the freshest produce c0me from. For those who are in the mood to cook the food themselves, there are many markets where they can buy fresh produce. From vegetables, fruits, and meat produce, Baguio has it all—most probably with better quality than the ones in the metro.
On the other hand, for those who wants to relax and just order food, there are a bunch of great restaurants around Baguio where they can order ready-to-eat food. Just make sure to pre-order or make early orders since food will easily sell out as the holidays approach.
Breathtaking Scenery and Family-Friendly Activities
There is a limited number of options to do on the holidays in the metro. Usually, families visit the mall to watch a movie or go to the amusement park with children. Because there are only a few choices of activities to do, these places are usually so crowded and congested that people can barely enjoy their time outdoor. Worse, there are times that it can be more of a hassle than a leisure time.
In Baguio City, there are a lot of places that families can go to for sightseeing and engage in some family-friendly activities to celebrate the holidays. For example, people can rent boats in Burnham Park’s man-made lake. This activity is a hit for kids especially those who grew up in the city and do not usually experience such activities.
There are also other parks where children can take photos with horses or even wear the province’s traditional clothes. There are also a bunch of parks where families can go for a more relaxed activity like a picnic and just enjoy the cool Baguio weather for the day.
For the adventurous ones, Baguio is a mountainous area and there are plenty of hiking activities that can be tried. It might not be too common to do on a holiday but this can be an interesting activity for those who are looking for a not-so-basic holiday experience.
Bonus: Baguio Fireworks Display
Celebrating the New Year’s Eve in Baguio is a unique experience that cannot be experienced anywhere else. When the clock strikes twelve, there are fireworks going off in every direction. Residents all over Baguio can watch fireworks from almost every place in Baguio, every nook and cranny of each neighborhood will not miss the colorful display of playful lights.
This is only the province’s official firework display. Aside from this, the residents of Baguio City also take New Year’s Eve celebration pretty seriously. People from Baguio are known to launch rockets that are often on par with official fireworks display, or sometimes better. As they say, what is a better way to welcome the first day of the year but with a bang, right?

The pandemic has brought a unique trend in real estate—the hunger for more space. Many families had to relocate to suburban areas because suddenly, their homes are no longer conducive to living a healthy and well-rounded lifestyle due to the constant time spent indoors. While some may argue, many find this reasonable because all of the things people usually did outside their homes suddenly had to fit inside a very limited space—work, exercise, eating, studying, and many more.
While many had the privilege to stay in their vacation homes or temporarily relocate to the provinces with bigger land areas, some did not have this choice. Instead, families opted to engage in do-it-yourself (DIY) projects to improve their home situation. DIY home furnishings are pretty popular even before the pandemic but to say that its fame increased in recent years is definitely an understatement; skyrocketed is a more appropriate description.
Living in a Luxury Condo
While having a huge outdoor space is a dream for most homeowners and aspiring homeowners alike, the reality is that these kind of properties are already hard to come by especially for people who need to reside in the city to be close to their main source of income. In many parts of the world, the congestion in metropolitan areas is a common problem. It is because work is mostly found in the city which creates scarcity in the number of good residential properties—clients are left with options that are either too pricey or already far from the business districts.
One of the solutions that are being implemented to serve as an answer to this concern is the development of more high-rise apartment or condominium buildings. In Metro Manila, Philippines, an increasing number of working professionals opt to avail a unit in this type of housing since it is too hard to look for a property in the capital region nowadays. This is in spite of the stigma that people from the Philippines have when it comes to purchasing a condominium unit.
One of the reasons for hesitation of many Filipinos is the inability of a condo unit to become a property that can be passed on to the family’s next generations. Filipinos, having a family-oriented culture with the majority coming from poor families, opt to invest in something that they can pass on to their families for the coming decades. Although, a new generation is taking over the consumer market and the world is about to find out the upcoming consumer trends that will arise from this unique set of homebuyers.
Living in a condo is a great option for those who want the extra facilities and amenities that come with the building and do not mind sharing it with a community. There are many luxury condos these days that have top-of-the-line structure and activities that are open to residents 24/7. Condo living can also mean less maintenance fees for the homeowners as these can be divided among the homeowners in the building. All these while living near or sometimes, at the heart of the city where most high-rise condominiums are being built these days.
Balcony Ideas To Complete The Luxury Condo Experience
For people who have made peace with themselves about owning a condo unit, there are tons of benefits from it as well. Also, despite the limited space, many condo buildings have amazing designs that have been built to provide the homeowners the best residential experience possible. One of the things condo buyers consider when looking for a unit is the balcony area where they can hang out on their leisure time. Living in a condo building does not automatically mean that there will not be an open space in one’s unit.
Even if it is just a small balcony, homeowners must make the most out of it! There are tons of ideas condo owners can find on the internet about this. If someone is blessed enough to have a balcony, then they owe it to themselves to make the most of it. To save you some time, we have put together in this article a few brilliant, trendy balcony ideas that will surely spruce up one’s extra space in their unit.
Choose the Best Furniture
What will be the main purpose of the balcony? Is it a place to enjoy those fresh morning coffee everyday? Or a place to do stretches in the afternoon while having a break from work? Or is it both? Answering this question clearly can bring this home furnishing project to an entirely different direction.
For those who likes to enjoy some view under the morning sun while drinking their coffee, putting a café table and a sturdy chair can already do the trick. Although, those who would like to get some exercise on that very space will have to look for other furniture that will fit for this activity.
Better yet, maximize the balcony’s square footage by putting a built-in bench seating. It will also alleviate the anxiety of having the winds knocking over the furniture or worse, send it flying downstairs. Another option is to choose one that folds up easily so it can easily be stored inside when not in use. This will give more floor space in case the area is meant to be used for various activities in the home.
For something extra, some people put a hanging chair or even a hammock in their balcony that instantly gives a laid-back vibe, like someone going on a vacation. This can make the balcony the perfect spot to hang out and relax during one’s free time. Whether one wants to soak up the sun while being invested in a book, an outdoor daybed or lounge chair can also be options to have a restful retreat.
Some Greenery Can Never Go Wrong
Homes look extra homey with the presence of some greenery. Planting is one of the few good things that people got into during the pandemic and the world hopes this interest stays for good. Having plants around the house can never go wrong.
To spruce up that balcony, one can put planters with lush plants to recreate the feel of that backyard homeowners always wanted. A modern take at a backyard, but still. For a more useful substitute, homeowners van grow some herbs to make the place smell as good and can be used as well for cooking as necessary.
For a more leveled up experience, homeowners can plant or make space for flowers. This will not only make the space more homey but will sweeten the view and give more appeal to the home’s curb as well.
Opt for Outdoor Rug or Floor Pillows
If the balcony has very limited space, there is always an option to use some colorful and comfortable floor pillows or outdoor rug instead. Aside from being way cheaper, this can make the space more versatile and can be used for more purposes without the need to rearrange heavy items. Just move the pillows or rug and the space can be an entirely different thing.
Sometimes, a patterned rug or runner is enough to do the trick. Make sure to choose one that will be aligned yet still stand out to the home’s aesthetic.
Put Some Lights On
Late night hangouts are best done with the view and the chilly wind breezing through. Although, it is best to be safe so make sure that there is enough lighting in the balcony to avoid freak accidents that homeowners will never wish to happen in their own property.
Lighting can add some extra effect to the balcony so you don’t have to be intimidated to install any string lights, outdoor lanterns, pendant or sconces.
Be Ready For Any Weather With Some Shade
Lastly, enjoy whatever weather in that balcony by installing some shade on the balcony to protect you from the rain or the scorching sun. Having a a retractable awning with classic design to match the building’s aesthetic or a bolder color to stand out among the rest.
If your balcony is right up against the neighbor’s, the shade can also serve as a natural wall. You can also hang bamboo shades that can be raised and lowered as needed.

“All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness.”
– Eckhart Tolle
Our houses are our haven. When we leave our houses, we go out of our comfort zone. We have to adjust with the business and disruption of the outside world.
With this said, it is important that we find inner peace in ourselves, in the comforts of our home.
When we find peace within ourselves, it would be easier for us when we face the outside world.
Having peace within ourselves should start from our homes.
Today, most people are switching to modern house zen to help them attain inner peace.
What is a Modern House Zen?
The practice of Zen is more than just a school of thought; it is a way of life that emphasizes inner reflection, extreme austerity, and the elevation of uncomplicated existence to the level of an art form.
The said minimalist philosophy is embodied in Zen design, which makes use of natural materials, patterns of space and light, and a relatively close rejection of unnecessary stuff in its aesthetic decisions.
A Zen home should be calm and conducive to reflection, as well as well-balanced and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
The concepts that can be used to organize one’s life can also be applied to the design of one’s home.
Here are Reasons why Modern House Zen Development is Good for your Health:
1.) Relaxing through Meditation
One of the most important schools of Buddhism is called Zen, and its primary focus is on the meditation practice known as zazen.
Modern Buddhist priests describe and exercise Buddhist meditation from the viewpoint of psychology and mental health.
They believe that it helps people alleviate the suffering of psychological and mental illnesses, so they pass this knowledge on to others.
In Taiwan, there are a number of Buddhist institutes where novice monks and nuns can take classes on the psychological foundations of meditation.
The goal of these classes is to prepare monastics and nuns to one day offer psychological counseling services to the general public.
Some senior monks have already been able to assist individuals become happier both physically and mentally.
Furthermore, they are able to relieve themselves of worries and fatigue.
This has been accomplished by helping people become happier physically and mentally and by ridding themselves of the fatigue and their worries.
The fields of psychology and mental health have incorporated aspects of eastern Zen theory into their respective disciplinary areas and have developed a body of understanding and discussion that has been de-contextualized over a significant amount of time.
For instance, mindfulness meditation, in particular, has frequently been utilized as a component of psychotherapy without much or no attention paid to the religious origins or underpinnings of the practice.
The existing teaching and practice of mindfulness are restricted to focusing on an individual’s own wellbeing.
While this does have therapeutic benefits, it is only a tiny component of the wisdom, philosophy, and fundamental principles that are taught and practiced in Buddhist teaching and practice.
It has a more potent message and a deeper purpose; at its core, it is about the human condition and about achieving freedom.
2.) The Perfect Ambiance
Instead of just using a plethora of bright lights, if you want to make your home a place where you can unwind and improve your health, you should consider incorporating elements of Zen interior design, which are designed to produce the appropriate ambience.
Selecting the most fundamental essential materials, such as glass, metal, an wood, can help to promote a lifestyle that is more calm and peaceful.
The home’s lighting should be relaxing in addition to the harmony.
The only way to achieve this effect is to become familiar with the art of utilizing natural sunlight.
A healthy and soothing atmosphere can be created indoors by incorporating elements such as plants, natural wood, and natural eco-materials into the design.
Others favor the use of meditative and relaxing goods that are dispersed throughout the various rooms of the home, while others opt to decorate the interiors of their homes with incense.
3.) A Calming & Organized Home
Due to the negative effects they have on our health, congested spaces are not tolerated in Zen interior design.
It is essential for us to have a feeling of freedom, especially when we are in our own homes.
The use of bare vital furnishings assists in preventing living spaces from having to feel overcrowded or clunky.
The space should be able to serve multiple purposes by utilizing contemporary furniture.
For instance, carved African furniture and houseplant contribute to the creation of a calm and wholesome interior that strikes a balance between contemporary design and the allure of nature.
It is important for e very component must serve some kind of mindful or spiritual function.
Your ability to handle stress will directly correlate to the degree to which your interiors are cluttered. Not only will this fix be very useful, but it will also be very simple to implement.
Bear in mind that there is a specific location for everything in your household, and that if you can find that location for everything, you will experience less stress and enjoy better overall health.
Creating an area in your house in which items can be stored in the correct location just requires a little bit of time and effort on your part.
This not only enables you to save time, but it also helps you keep your sanity in the process.
If you have a large quantity of papers which you do not intend to use, you should stack them up and place them in an attractively decorated box in an orderly fashion.
It will not just make the interiors of your home appear more appealing, but it will also make sure that the papers are hidden from view.
4.) Connecting to Nature
There are many health benefits that have been associated to spending time in nature, including enhanced focus and mood, as well as reduced stress levels.
Being outside in nature makes you want to move around more and be more active, both of which are beneficial to your cardiovascular health.
The concept “soft fascination,” which was coined by Kaplan & Kaplan, describes the way in which our minds are captivated when we view natural scenes.
The mind is stimulated, but in an unique manner by natural settings than it is by man-made ones.
When we are in a city, our minds are constantly trying to keep up with all of the loud noises, different moving vehicles, and changing traffic lights.
We do not require the same level of critical thinking and analysis when we are in nature as we do when we are in the city; instead, nature merely entices us to come closer and enables us to take in the splendor and tranquility that it bestows upon us.
We are able to take a deep breath, take in the crisp air, and find a state of calm rather than being on high alert.
