Pinoy Pride! The Kalinga province bagged not one, but two Guinness world records last month. The people of Kalinga had really outdone themselves, as they set the world records on the largest gong ensemble and the largest banga dance.
The Philippines is known for its beauty as a country and the people’s solidarity, as evident during the 4th Bodong festival in the Kalinga Sports Complex. “Bodong” means peace pact, and the feast was celebrated together with the 28th founding anniversary of the province. Filipinos are not known to skimp during major celebrations, and the people of the Kalinga province did not disappoint.
In fact, they set two Guinness world record Philippines, with 4,681 female banga dancers and 3,440 male gong beaters on the “Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu’n Chi Banga” festival, which translates to “a call of a thousand gongs, the dance of a thousand pots.” The event started with them welcoming the watchers with a tableau, wherein they gathered forming the shape of a Dove, which means peace among the seven towns of Kalinga. They also displayed awesome tenacity, because there was rain during the afternoon, which did not stop them from dancing and gong beating.

What Is the Prize Money for Guinness World Record?
Getting a Guiness world record Philippines sounds huge and prestigious, and it is a great way to bring a sense of pride and awe for the beautiful country. Setting such feats is priceless, literally and figuratively. Guinness World Records does not give any kind of monetary compensation to those who will set or defeat records.
The organization’s goal is to celebrate the best that the world can offer, along with inspiring, informing, and entertaining other people. They aim to stay neutral and fair to everyone by not supporting people financially or reimbursing them. The main reward, then, for people who will set records is the recognition that they get for being the best at what they do.
It becomes clear, then, that setting a Guinness world record is for the people who are passionate and devoted enough to prove themselves worthy of being called the best, even without a monetary incentive. This is a beautiful stance by the organization, as it helps keep record-setting from getting corrupted.
The Kalinga Guinness world record that the country was acknowledged for was then done for free and proves that Filipinos are capable of doing great things even without external funding. Another great thing that you can experience in the Philippines is living in a luxury condo in Baguio, because only a few things are better than living in one of the best cities in a very beautiful country. Turns out, the popular adage: your home reflects your life span is not just empty words. People living in the Blue Zones, or the areas around the world where centenarians, the healthiest people, and longest-living folks reside, advise that the secret to longevity is closer to you than you think: biophilic homes. According to them living in an environment, whether that is in humble homes to luxury real estate properties, that encourages you to unconsciously make healthier decisions on your lifestyle is an important key to longevity. And that environment starts in the spaces of the home, from the outside down to the interior design.
Part of the many reasons why biophilic design is popular in the home design industry is its positive impact on homeowners. For the unfamiliar, biophilic home design or nature homes is a design concept that focuses on creating a connection between humans and nature. This includes incorporating natural light, plants, and other elements of nature in the home.
In this blog, Brittany Corporation discusses why biophilic home design matters and highlights how to apply it to your luxury home to create a space that enhances well-being, improves health and celebrates life.
Biophilic Home Design Inspirations and How to Incorporate them into Your Home
Now that the importance of biophilic design is established, the next step is incorporating it into your home. It is important to take note that creating nature homes go beyond allowing natural light in or adding natural elements to your interior design. Key elements like community, feelings, and the well-being of the residents are equally important.
That said, here are some ways you can apply biophilic design to your luxury home.
Start with adding more greens indoors
The easiest way to connect with nature indoors is through indoor plants. They help purify indoor air, create a refreshing atmosphere, and clear one’s mind. Some studies have shown that indoor plants can even help improve focus, creativity, and productivity.
Plus, adding indoor plants to your home requires no major overhaul and can be as easy as placing them in different areas of the house. Biophilic homes often include succulents, fragrant plants, hanging plants, or vertical gardens. if you want to elevate your plant decor, add scents. Diffuse essential oils with scents of nature like forest and woodsy scents.
If you know a professional gardener, you can elevate your indoor garden with creative gardening solutions. For starters, adopt a biophilic design by creating plant walls or lining your staircase with plants.
Emphasize Your Outdoor View
This method applies to people with great outdoor views. If you live in an area with nature, your greatest biophilic home decor is already outside your window. Consider framing your outdoor view with large windows. It is better if you use windows that are not constantly blocked with metal grills or sashes. Say you live in a luxury real estate property that overlooks a beautiful lake, a mountainside, or a grassy field. Think of your view as a wall art that serves as the highlight of the room.
Choose an earthy color palette for your interior design theme
Color is a key factor in biophilic design. Nature homes tend to lean on combinations of earthy colors. Some of the most popular choices are shades for the interior design of biophilic homes are terracotta, green, sky blue, and others. Matching these palettes to your decor, upholstery, and rugs also creates a “closer to nature” aesthetics.
If solid colors are not your cup of tea, try exploring your preference with natural patterns and textures. Think of nature patterns like climbing plants, ocean waves, or honeycomb patterns. To add a dramatic depth to your space, throw in some woven elements like rugs and upholstered chairs.
Add Some Natural Material as Interior Decor
Biophilic homes bring the outdoors indoors. And when it comes to recreating an outdoorsy setup indoors, you will not go wrong with decorating your luxury real estate property with natural materials. For textiles, line your tables, chairs, or kitchen counters with jute, cotton, or linens. Choose materials like bamboo, rattan, stone, and wood for furnishings.
If you are a fan of stone flooring, consider choosing among the best natural stones in the market: marble, granite, slate, and limestone. But if you prefer wooden finishes, you can try opting for wooden finishes and surfaces. You can start by adding wooden furniture, or some also installed wooden wall panels and flooring.
Maximize the Natural Light
The abundance of natural light is one of the most popular characteristics of biophilic home design. It instantly elevates the atmosphere of a place and creates a bright and airy space. To make the most of it, you should consider installing huge windows or even glazed walls. I will not only give you an amazing view of the outdoors but also an effective ventilation system for your luxury real estate property.
Another good thing about natural light is it positively influences your circadian rhythm, to keep you relaxed and calm throughout the day. When the weather is normal, open the window and doors to breathe in the fresh air and listen to the ambient sound of nature outside. When it rains, you can sit in your lounge area and watch the water drops. Doing so helps clear your mind and improve your mood throughout the day.
One more thing: think about adding a skylight. This is the window or windows you see installed in the roof or ceiling of a property. A skylight is often layered with transparent or translucent material so it can admit natural light. Putting it in your hallway, bathroom, or kitchen is a great way to maximize natural light. Plus, you get a beautiful view of the sky by the day, the sunset during afternoons, and the night sky when night falls.
Create an Indoor-to-Outdoor Connection
Biophilic homes are airy homes. That said, it is common to see many doors and outdoor features that connect the outdoor and indoor areas of the home. To create this easy-flowing atmosphere, try installing huge sliding doors. By doing so, you can easily connect your, say, living room with a cozy outdoor patio, or your room connected to a deck or balcony.
Incorporate Sustainable Home Design
As mentioned earlier, biophilic homes are more than just aesthetics. They also consider the well-being of its inhabitants, the community, and the planet. That said, adding sustainable home features to your luxury real estate property is one of the principles of biophilic design. Consider installing rainwater harvesting techniques, low-flow faucets, and recycling water for household cleaning and gardening as ways to reduce water wastage. Installing solar panels are also a great option for conserving energy.

“Culture plays an important role in interior design, as it shapes our understanding of beauty, functionality, and the meaning of space.”
Having a place to call home is both a blessing and a necessity.
You can’t find that same feeling of safety, stability, and community anywhere else. The comforts of the home allow us to relax, be ourselves, and bond with our loved ones. It’s a haven where we can find refuge and peace from the troubles and pressures of the outside world.
Moreover, our homes can be an extension of ourselves, where we can show visitors our unique styles and values. Having a place to call home is wonderful because it helps us feel like we have a place in the world and a reason to be who we are.
And speaking of expressing ourselves through interior design, have you heard that it is also appropriate for our homes to reflect our personality and values, a place where we can express ourselves through art, decoration, and design?
What is culture in interior design?
The term “culture in interior design” describes the impact of cultural norms and values on the design at home. Our cultural backgrounds inform our ideas of what constitutes beauty and functionality in the built environment, which can have far-reaching effects on interior design.
Cultural influences can be seen in various aspects of interior design, including color schemes, patterns, materials, and furnishings.
For example, in many Asian cultures, red is considered auspicious and symbolizes good luck and prosperity. In African cultures, bright colors and bold patterns are often used to reflect the vibrancy of the natural environment and the importance of community and family.
Cultural influences can also be seen in how spaces are organized and used. For example, in many Middle Eastern cultures, the family is the center of social life, and interior spaces are designed to accommodate large groups of people for meals and gatherings. In Scandinavian cultures, on the other hand, simplicity and minimalism are valued, and interior spaces are often designed to promote a sense of calm and relaxation.
Cultural Interior Design: Let Your Home Interior Reflect Your Culture – The Architects Diary
Expressing yourself through interior design is a great way to personalize your living space and create a home that reflects your personality, style, and interests. Here are some ways to express yourself through interior design:
1. Choose a color scheme: Colors can have a significant impact on mood and emotions. Choosing a color scheme that resonates with you and reflects your personality can be a great way to express yourself through interior design. Whether you prefer bold and bright colors or soft and muted tones, the colors you choose can set the tone for your space.
2. Incorporate artwork and decor: Pieces of art and home furnishings can help you make a statement about who you are and what you value. Original works of art, photographs, and other decorative items can all be used to create an atmosphere unique to you and your tastes.
3. Use patterns and textures: Make use of a variety of patterns and textures to inject lifvariouse and character into a room. Whether you’re drawn to bright and bold patterns or more muted and understated textures, it’s possible to make a room feel truly your own through your design decisions.
4. Display Collections: If you have a collection of items that you are particularly fond of, you may want to showcase them in your home. You can share a bit about who you are and what you value through the books, pottery, and antiques you display.
5. Personalize your furniture: Changing the look of your furniture is a great way to show off your unique sense of style. Your personal style can be reflected in a one-of-a-kind furniture piece you make by doing something as simple as painting a dresser a bright color or as involved as reupholstering a chair with a one-of-a-kind fabric.
Symbols of Faith: Many cultures’ religious traditions run deep into their historic fabric. Consider adding religious artifacts to your home decor. You can show respect for your faith through a symbol, statue, or work of art, regardless of whether your faith is organized or not.
It could be a Buddha statue, a cross, a painting depicting a religious scene, or even an artifact from a significant religious site. Tapestries, framed artwork, and stenciled images of religious symbols are all suitable wall hangings, while a small tabletop accent piece can also make a statement.
Cultural Appropriation in Interior Design
Cultural appropriation refers to the act of taking elements from one culture and using them without proper understanding or respect for their meaning and significance. This can include traditional clothing, hairstyles, music, art, symbols, or other cultural elements.
It’s often criticized because it can dilute the uniqueness of the group doing the appropriating, normalize harmful stereotypes about them, and make light of significant cultural traditions. It can also result in monetary exploitation and a lack of respect for the original culture’s intellectual property.
Cultural appropriation in interior design occurs when a designer or homeowner borrows or takes elements from another culture without proper respect, acknowledgment, or understanding of its meaning. Here are some types of cultural appropriation in interior design:
Using sacred or religious symbols to create a decorative item is the most common cultural appropriation in interior design. For example, using a Buddha statue as a decorative item without any understanding of the Buddhist religion.
When a designer or homeowner uses cultural elements in a way that is not authentic, they risk misrepresenting or stereotyping that culture. Not realizing the cultural significance of Native American headdresses before hanging them on the wall, for instance.
Using traditional textiles or designs without understanding their origin or meaning. Using traditional textiles or designs without understanding their cultural significance can be an issue of cultural appropriation. For example, using a traditional African print as wallpaper without any knowledge of its history.
One form of cultural appropriation is the use of traditional arts and crafts from another culture without giving proper credit or payment to the artisans involved.
Without appreciating their cultural significance, businesses can be guilty of “commercializing” cultural designs when they steal them and mass produces them for profit. Selling “tribal” or “ethnic” goods without acknowledging or learning about the original culture is one example.
In our context in the Philippines, Davao City is well-known for its unique and varied customs and rituals. It is home to various indigenous groups, including the Bagobo, Mandaya, and Mansaka. These groups have preserved their cultural practices, such as weaving, woodcarving, and beadwork. They also have their dialects, music, and dances.
Incorporating Davao’s culture and tradition to design, especially if you plan to invest in a luxury condominium in Davao, can be a great way to celebrate and honor the city’s rich heritage.
If you need to bring Dava’s rich natural resources, using their locally sourced materials, such as bamboo, wood, and woven textiles can help bring a touch of Davao’s culture into your home. Moreover, indigenous textiles such as the T’boli T’nalak, Bagobo Abaca weaves, and Mandaya Inabal weaves are highly valued in Davao. Consider incorporating these textiles into your desired condominium in Davao through upholstery, pillows, or wall hangings.
Handicrafts such as woven baskets, pottery, and wood carvings are a staple of Davao’s culture. These items can be used as decorative elements or functional pieces such as trays or bowls.
Davao is home to exotic flora such as the Vanda sanderiana orchid and the waling-waling orchid. Consider incorporating these plants or their colors into the home’s color scheme or using them as inspiration for patterns or prints.
Moreover, traditional music and dance elements such as gongs, drums, and costumes can be incorporated into the home design as wall decor or conversation pieces.

Overall, culture plays an important role in interior design, as it shapes our understanding of beauty, functionality, and the meaning of space. By incorporating cultural influences into interior design, designers can create spaces that reflect the unique traditions, beliefs, and practices of different cultures and resonate with people on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Window fog is a common problem for many homeowners. It occurs when indoor and outdoor air meets on glass surfaces such as windows or mirrors, and the moisture contained in both air masses forms condensation droplets on the surface. Although it looks aesthetically unpleasing, it doesn’t immediately mean something is wrong with the structure of your home.
Window fogging is usually caused by high humidity levels, temperature changes and/or poor ventilation inside a home. It can damage wooden frames, cause mold to grow on the walls and even interfere with visibility if it gets too heavy or thick. To avoid these problems, it’s important to prevent window fog in your luxury house and lot in Daang Hari from occurring in the first place.
1. Invest In High-Quality Windows to Prevent Foggy Windows
A good quality window will be better at keeping out moisture than one that isn’t made from top-grade materials or installed properly. Look for double-glazed windows, as this will provide an extra insulation barrier between the indoor and outdoor air. If possible, choose windows with a low U-value, which measures their thermal performance. Low U-values (below 0.25) mean that the windows keep more heat in, making it less likely for condensation to form on the glass.
Installing energy-efficient windows in your property in Forresta is also an excellent way to save money on your energy bills. Replacement windows can be up to 70% more efficient than older models, so you’ll immediately start seeing the difference. Look for Energy Star-certified windows with a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC). This means they will absorb more of the sun’s energy, helping to keep your home warm during colder months.
2. Install an Extractor Fan or Open the Window to Prevent Foggy Windows
Extractor fans are designed to draw moisture and humidity out of bathrooms and kitchens. This can help reduce condensation and fogging on windows near these areas where there is typically more moisture in the air. Ensure you turn them on when you shower, cook or wash dishes so they can do their job. Alternatively, if you don’t have any extractor fans installed, simply open a window after using either one of these rooms to allow the moisture to escape.
3. Use a Dehumidifier or Air Conditioner to Prevent Foggy Windows
If your luxury house and lot in Daang Hari is particularly humid, installing a dehumidifier or air conditioner can help reduce indoor moisture levels and reduce fogging on windows. Dehumidifiers are designed to remove excess moisture from the air while an air conditioning unit cools the temperature down, which also helps lower humidity levels in your home. Both of these methods will make it less likely for condensation droplets to form on glass surfaces.
To get the most out of using a dehumidifier or air conditioner, it’s important to keep up with regular maintenance. This includes cleaning and replacing filters as well as monitoring condensation levels. For best results, empty the reservoir regularly, so your unit is not overworked. During colder months, windows should be opened slightly at times to allow air circulation.
4. Monitor Temperature and Humidity Levels to Prevent Foggy Windows
Keeping track of both temperature and humidity levels can also help prevent window fog from forming in your home. If you notice that either one of them is higher than usual, take steps to reduce them, such as using a dehumidifier or air conditioner. Additionally, if the temperature is too low, try to adjust it with a heater or by adding extra insulation in your home.
At the same time, you should also be mindful of any changes in air quality. Common indoor pollutants such as dust, pet dander, or smoke can cause window fog to form. Make sure to keep the air in your luxury house and lot in Daang Hari clean by regularly changing furnace filters and vacuuming carpets and furniture. You may also want to consider using an air purifier to remove any harmful particles from the indoor environment.
5. Use Insulation and Weather Stripping to Prevent Foggy Windows
Weatherstripping is an inexpensive way to seal off gaps that can let in moisture from outside and cause fogging on windows. It’s also important to make sure your home is properly insulated so that warm air doesn’t escape through the walls or roof, which can create condensation on cold glass surfaces.
6. Clean Your Windows Regularly to Prevent Foggy Windows
When dirt and grime build up on windows, it increases the chances of fogging occurring by blocking out the sun’s warmth and leaving a thin layer of condensation droplets on the surface. To avoid this, make sure to clean your windows regularly with a damp cloth and use a glass cleaner every once in a while.
7. Add Curtains or Blinds to Prevent Foggy Windows
Adding curtains or blinds to your windows can stop the sun’s heat from entering the home during the summer months and reduce fogging on surfaces as a result. This is especially useful for south-facing windows, which often receive more sunlight than in other directions.
Curtains and blinds come in various materials, from thin sheer fabric that filters out light to thicker blackout curtains designed to block out all sunlight. They can also be decorated with colorful patterns or prints to add extra visual interest to the room. You can hang them higher than your window if you’d like an additional layer of privacy. Additionally, curtains and blinds can be custom-made to fit your windows exactly for the best possible insulation from the sun’s rays.
8. Use Fans or Ventilators to Prevent Foggy Windows
If you cannot open your windows for security reasons, using fans or ventilators can help get more air circulation into the room. This will only work if there’s an adequate gap between the fan/ventilator and the window, so measure this before installing one. This is an especially helpful solution if you have a lot of electronic devices on your property in Forresta, as they tend to spread out the heat.
Ventilators can be expensive and take up space, so they may not always be the most practical option. However, for larger rooms or spaces with many people, installing one could make a significant difference in terms of air quality. It’s also important to check with local building regulations before installing one, as there are some restrictions on where and how they can be used in certain areas.
Fans are a much simpler and cheaper solution for improving air circulation in a room or space. You can either buy fans that attach to the window or ceiling or place a fan in the middle of the room. The latter is great for circulating air quickly, as it can move air from one corner to another.
9. Keep the Room Well Ventilated to Prevent Window Fog
Finally, good ventilation is essential for reducing fogging on windows in all seasons. Make sure you open a window or door in each room at least once daily and let fresh air circulate throughout your home. This will also help keep mold and mildew at bay, which can be an additional problem caused by condensation buildup.
10. Consult a Professional To Prevent Window Fog
If you cannot prevent window fogging independently in your property in Forresta, it’s best to consult a professional. A qualified contractor can assess the situation and advise what steps you need to take to reduce fogging levels in your home. They may also be able to suggest other more permanent solutions, such as replacing old windows with new ones or rearranging the furniture in the room.
Final Thoughts
Foggy windows are a common problem for your home, but they can be prevented if the right steps are taken. Investing in good quality windows and ensuring your home is well-ventilated will go a long way towards preventing condensation from forming on glass surfaces. Additionally, using dehumidifiers, air conditioners and weather stripping can help reduce humidity levels inside the home, which may also contribute to fogging. Taking all of these precautions should ensure that you don’t have any issues with foggy windows in your home.

People have different hobbies and interests that give them joy and satisfaction. Motivational speakers always say that you shouldn’t lose the child in you. Some would even say that they do things because they are healing their inner child. And there is nothing wrong with that. Buying the action figures of your favorite superhero, collecting shoes, buying that luxury lot in Sta. Rosa for sale and even modifying your car could be one of the interest people could have in the Philippines.
Is car modification legal in the Philippines?
In engaging in a new interest, the legality should not be overlooked. The famous line that reminds us “Ignorance of the law excuses no one” should be taken seriously. In general, car modification Philippines is legal, but it must comply with certain regulations and safety standards set by the government. Technically, car modifications refer to the change that will happen to the vehicle physically. Car modifiers are those car owners who modify their cars to fit their tastes and improve them generally. Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the Philippines emphasized that the modifications should not compromise safety and LTO will conduct a further inspection to ensure everything.
LTO acknowledges the “your car, your rules” notion but if you are talking about car modification the Philippines, LTO, and the car manufacturers will have a say on that. If the modification of any part of the vehicle will affect its safety driving, LTO will have to take precautionary measures to prevent any danger.
It is also important to note that according to the law modified vehicles must undergo a safety inspection and pass a roadworthiness test before they can be registered and driven on public roads in the Philippines. LTO explicitly discusses the modifications that are not allowed due to safety and environmental concerns. These include axle modification, chassis modification, extended chassis/body, additional sidings of dump trucks, extended overhang, change of rim size, modification of handlebar and muffler, and reconfiguration of body dimension and design. It is important to follow these guidelines to ensure the safety and environmental impact of modified vehicles.
What modifications can I do to my car?
Generally, when talking about car modifications people can have a wide choice in choosing which part of the car they will be modifying. From simple upgrades like new tires and rims to more complex modifications like engine swaps and suspension upgrades, the possibilities are endless and can be exciting.
The most common modification that car owners can do to their cars is wheels and tires, suspension, exhaust system, brakes, engine upgrades, and audio system. Car modifications in the Philippines could mean spending a lot of money, but car modifiers could make the best out of their money. There are a lot of car modifications that are worth your money just like there is a lot of luxury lot in Sta. Rosa for sale (e.g., Augusta Sta. Rosa).
While car modifications are an enjoyable hobby for many, it is important to remember that certain modifications may not be legal in all areas. It is important to check with local laws and regulations if there are any changes to a vehicle.
Car modification is a popular hobby among car enthusiasts, especially among the wealthy. Social media is one of the biggest contributors to car modification in the Philippines and you can only imagine what it can do to car innovations. The idea that a car owner could “personalize” their car with the help of this kind of innovation is definitely enticing.

Giving time in the garden, tending plants, and growing their food can benefit people with disabilities, the elderly, and children. You can create an engaging, enjoyable and useful area that can be used for an edible garden with some planning.
If you’re a plant lover or planning to be one, here’s to show you how to design a beautiful edible garden, from the layout, materials, and down to the types of herbs and crops to plant.
What is the meaning of Edible Garden?
An edible garden contains flowers, herbs, seeds, berries, and plants. You can begin small with a few pots, containers, or even a window box filled with herbs.
The practical integration of edible plants within an ornamental or decorative setting is known as edible landscaping. Edibles in landscape design can add a unique cosmetic component to a garden while providing additional health, aesthetic, and economic benefits.
Tips on How to Make an Edible Garden
Before you start an edible landscape or expand an existing one, consider what you want it to look like and how big it will be.
- Size: If you’re a beginner at vegetable gardening, start small by growing only a few crops. A small raised bed is easier to maintain than a large garden, allowing you to practice your gardening skills without feeling like a chore. After gardening for a season or two, you can always add more beds and containers or expand your growing space.
- Location: To crop correctly, most vegetables, herbs, and fruits require at least eight to ten hours of sunlight daily. This is especially true for fruiting plants such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash. Here in the Philippines, don’t you think Tagaytay can be suitable for making an edible garden? Its cooler climate can be advantageous for growing certain types of crops that might struggle in hotter and more humid areas.
And if you are planning to build that elegant edible garden in a luxury house and lot in Tagaytay, you can choose from Brittany’s Swiss-themed homes: luxury condo units at Alpine Villas and The Grand Quartier, and a lot of luxury house and lot properties that will match your edible garden design ideas.
- Soil: You should also pay attention to your ground because healthy soil is necessary for healthy plants. A soil test kit will reveal what nutrients must be added and whether the soil pH needs to be adjusted in your yard. In the spring and between crops, you can add many chopped leaves, compost, aged manure, kelp meal, and other soil amendments.
Edible Garden Design Ideas
Raised Beds – Raised beds are garden beds built above ground level. The term “raised” refers to the fact that the soil level in the bed is higher than the surrounding soil. The term “bed” suggests a size small enough to work in without stepping on the planting area.
Obelisks – Traditional bamboo teepees are used to grow climbing crops such as pole beans. Adding something more formal, such as a metal obelisk or bean tower, can elevate a simple veggie patch to a stylish potager. Vertical structures also give the visual garden height and interest.
Tunnels – High tunnels protect plants from wet, saturated soils and cold temperatures in the spring and fall, extending the gardening season. This can result in fruits and vegetables maturing earlier.
Containers – Container gardening refers to growing plants in containers such as pots rather than in the ground. Container gardening is ideal for urban areas where a traditional garden is not feasible. It is firm and portable, so it can be arranged to fit if you want to set up your garden.
A Decorative Edge – Edging is lining flower beds, paths, lawns, and shrubbery borders with brick, concrete, living plants, and other materials. It can be formal (stone, brick, tiles, masonry blocks, wood, poured concrete, or stone) or informal (living plants).
Best Plants in your Edible Garden
Herbs are a fantastic way to add beauty, fragrance, and function to your backyard for culinary enthusiasts and gardeners. Our guide will assist you in selecting the best herbs and edible flowers for your landscape and teach you how to care for them.
Basil – Basil’s bright, showy leaves and intensely sweet aroma are emblematic of summer gardens and dishes. Many edible gardeners begin with basil, and the numerous varieties available will never tire of its refreshing flavor. Dry or freeze it in the fall for the rest of the year. Basil can be grown from seed or nursery seedlings.
Oregano is well known for its small, oval, dark green leaves that grow in a crinkled shape. Oregano goes well with eggs, vinaigrettes, and tomato-based dishes like pizza and pasta sauce. Moreover, it possesses antifungal and antibacterial qualities that will benefit your cleaning goods.
Plant oregano in your edible garden with poor to average soil, or mix sand or perlite into regular potting soil. Pinch the tips of the growing stems when it reaches 4 inches in height to keep them healthy. Weekly pruning prevents woody stems and promotes new growth.
Dill – Dill is one of only a few herbs on this list that grows best from seed. Sow the seeds in full sun throughout the summer. It tolerates rocky soil but requires adequate drainage and space to establish its taproot. Dill is an annual but can self-seed and almost certainly return the following year. Cut back the flower heads and collect the seeds from plants where you want them to avoid unwanted volunteers.
Parsley – If you’re starting, parsley is a great plant, to begin with. Its bright green leaves add visual interest and a splash of color. The fresh flavor of parsley brightens grilled vegetables, potatoes, stews, and grain dishes.
Follow the standard herb preparation instructions for parsley. It prefers a sunny location with loamy soil. A good-quality potting soil will suffice, or you can add a light layer of compost to your existing soil. Because parsley is toxic to animals in large quantities, keep it out of reach of curious pets.
Rosemary – It’s easy to overlook that this tough-as-nails perennial is also edible. In warmer climates, rosemary can cascade over rocky hillsides or be potted on sun-drenched patios. With just one whiff of its earthy aroma, you can almost feel the country’s heat. Although seeds are available, rosemary grows best from small plants.
Nasturtiums – Nasturtium seedlings are best planted in warm soil in the spring. Because they require darkness to germinate, we prefer to start them indoors. Plant the seedlings in full sun once they have been thinned and are ready to be transplanted.
The flowers contrast the pepperiness of the leaves and are a great way to liven up salads while also providing a colorful edible garnish. Both children and adults can pick the flowers directly from your edible garden and suck the sweet nectar. At the end of the season, the seed pods can be saved as a homemade alternative to capers.
Calendula – The calendula flower’s bright yellow, orange, or red petals combine a sweetish honey flavor with a deep color to add a new dimension to many dishes. Sprinkle the petals on salads or use them instead of saffron in various rice dishes. Dry the petals and use them later in the year to brighten soups and stews for a hearty winter meal.
Cut off the entire flower head, remove the petals by hand, and discard the rest. Picking regularly will encourage more flowers, so don’t be shy.
Lavender – We’re sure you know the calming properties of lavender’s scent. Lavender is difficult (though possible) to grow from seed and is best grown from cuttings or purchased from an edible garden. Lavender thrives in both cool winters and hot, dry summers. Lavender prefers well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight.
Lavender blooms, like all herb flowers, are edible. They have a distinct floral flavor with a rosemary/mint undertone. In sweet dishes, use sparingly; a little goes a long way.
Roses – Is it possible to eat roses? Yes! Roses, the traditional flower of love, have a sweet flavor with a hint of spice. The rose’s entire body is edible.
The leaves taste similar to black tea and can be used to make tea. Rosebuds have the most robust rose flavor. Dry them and use them to flavor teas or other dishes. Rose petals can pick and add to salads, infused in honey, garnish desserts, and so much more.
Daylily – This tough ornamental is a landscape favorite due to its prolific and ornamental blooming. Daylilies sprout from spring to summer and come in various colors, such as yellow, red, orange, purple, and white. Plant in late spring or early fall as a perennial.
Daylily flowers have a mild vegetable flavor that is similar to asparagus. Before eating the blooms, remove the bitter white base. Also, ensure you taste a daylily (hemerocallis), as other lilies can be toxic and make you sick.
Growing your vegetable garden is a simple way to help the environment while improving your well-being and saving money. You’ll also be satisfied knowing that you’re contributing to the community’s resilience and sustainable lifestyle. The next time you plant, remember these creative ideas we share to incorporate into your edible garden.

When Laguna comes to mind, people often associate it with fresh air, stunning scenery, and luxurious resorts. The province undoubtedly lives up to these expectations, as it remains a favored spot for both foreign and local vacationers. Moreover, Laguna is currently experiencing a gradual increase in its population, as more individuals opt to relocate to the province to escape the hectic pace of the nearby capital of Laguna.
Looking for a luxury house and lot in Laguna? Here’s what you need to know more about the province of Laguna.
Where is Laguna Province?
Located southeast of Metro Manila, Laguna is surrounded by Rizal, Quezon, Batangas, and Cavite. The province derives its name from Laguna de Bay, with its coastal towns situated along its shores.
Renowned for its historical significance during foreign occupations, Laguna is the birthplace of the Philippines’ national hero and has witnessed revolts against Spanish and American oppressors, with museums and shrines commemorating these events scattered throughout the province.
Laguna’s economy has grown more robust and diverse, ranking fourth in the competitiveness rankings of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). While the province used to rely solely on agriculture and aquaculture, it has since become an industrial powerhouse, with developers such as Brittany Corporation investing heavily in the booming residential real estate industry. The high demand for housing is fueled by workers from all over Luzon flocking to industrial towns like Santa Rosa and Calamba for work.
What is the Capital of Laguna?
The capital of Laguna is the Municipality of Santa Cruz, which is recognized for its vibrant commerce. While trade and commerce have traditionally been the primary economic activities, the municipality also functions as the central service hub for the northeastern municipalities in the region.
What is Laguna Known For?
Although Laguna is renowned for being home to the famous Laguna de Bay, the province is also referred to as the “Philippines’ Silicon Valley” because of the abundance of electronic and semiconductor industries situated within its borders. But here are other things Laguna is known for:
Resort Capital of the Philippines
Laguna has also established itself as the resort capital of the Philippines, boasting over 700 hot spring resorts across the province. These hot springs have become a popular destination for Filipinos seeking relaxation and recreation.
Most of these springs are situated in rural towns like Los Baños and Calamba. These are sourced from Mt. Makiling, one of Laguna’s dormant volcanoes, which heats the rocks beneath the springs, providing warm and relaxing bathing experiences.
The Los Baños hot springs were first discovered by the Spanish Franciscan Friars in the late 1500s and transformed into public bathhouses for visitors and sick patients. Notable historical figures such as Jose Rizal and Apolinario Mabini frequented these hot springs. Nowadays, the hot springs are popular vacation spots for both domestic and international tourists.
Hometown of Artists and Heroes
Laguna province is home to prominent revolutionaries and artists in the Philippines. The City of Calamba, in particular, is the birthplace of the national hero, Jose Rizal. Rizal played a significant role as one of the leaders during the Spanish Colonial Period in the Philippines, which ultimately sparked the Philippine Revolution. The people of Laguna, particularly those in Los Baños, Santa Cruz, and Magdalena, also participated in the revolt against Spanish misrule.
In addition, Laguna has made significant contributions to the country’s arts and culture scene. Paete, a town in the province, is well-known for its wood carving industry. Skilled artisans in the area create a variety of wooden sculptures, from intricate and detailed miniatures to large and grandiose statues that depict life in the province or religious figures.
Diverse Economy
Although Laguna’s economy is primarily agricultural, the province has diversified into various industries such as manufacturing, food processing, retail, and tourism in recent decades. This economic shift can be attributed to the launch of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in the 1980s.
The SLEX provides direct and efficient access to different towns in Laguna, as well as to Quezon Province, Batangas, Cavite, and Metro Manila. As a result, it has become easier to transport equipment and materials to and from the province, thereby boosting the local economy. Additionally, commuting to the rest of Laguna from various parts of Luzon has become more convenient due to the SLEX.
Capital of Laguna and itsPopular Neighborhoods
If you are considering having your own luxury real estate in Laguna or any of the provincial places of Laguna, here are some of the most popular neighborhoods you need to know:
Los Baños
Nestled at the base of Mt. Makiling lies the town of Los Baños, whose name pays homage to the thermal springs that bubble beneath its surface. These mineral-rich waters are harnessed and distributed to various resorts and hotels in the area, where visitors can indulge in a relaxing soak.
But this town is more than just a destination for leisurely pursuits. The town has also emerged as a hub for agricultural research and innovation, earning the distinction of being named the Special Science and Nature Center of the Philippines in the mid-2000s. A number of esteemed research centers are located within its borders, including the following:
- UPLB Philippine Carabao Center
- UPLB Dairy Training and Research Institute (DTRI)
- International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)
- ASEAN Center for Biodiversity
- Philippine Rice Research Institute.
If you’re looking to retreat from city life and reside closer to nature, this town is ideal for you. The residences are situated away from the primary thoroughfare, frequently within gated communities such as Makiling Subdivision and Marymount subdivisions.
In contrast to other urban areas, there are fewer towering edifices in the region, allowing inhabitants to appreciate unobstructed vistas of the stunning mountains and plains of Los Baños.
Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa is a top choice in Laguna when it comes to seeking an urban lifestyle. his highly developed city boasts a thriving industrial economy, making it a first-class component city. Numerous special economic zones in the city simplify the process of opening and operating businesses, providing ample job opportunities for its rapidly growing population.
Santa Rosa is also home to luxurious malls and business centers. One must-visit spot in the region is Nuvali, a 2,400-hectare mixed-use development by Ayala Land. Here, you’ll find shopping centers such as Ayala Solenad, renowned schools like Xavier School Nuvali, and outdoor recreational spaces like mountain bike trails and wildlife sanctuaries.
You can also find house and lot near Nuvali, such as those owned by Brittany Corporation. Calamba houses several industrial parks, accommodating manufacturing and food processing plants such as Zenith Foods Corp., Zest-O Corporation, Samsung Electronics Philippines, Fuji Electric Philippines, and Toshiba Storage Device Philippines, Inc.
Furthermore, the city is regarded as a “Next Wave City” for business process outsourcing (BPO) due to its advanced internet infrastructure and highly skilled workforce, with branches of major BPO firms like Accenture and SPi Technologies located in Calamba.
Calamba has a rich cultural heritage, highlighted by the Rizal Shrine, the birthplace of the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The city is also home to the St. John the Baptist Parish, a church constructed in the late 1700s, and the Matang Tubig cold spring, which was developed in the mid-1900s.
Other Neighborhoods of the Capital of Laguna
Other places to live in Laguna are San Pablo City, which is a province well-known seven lakes, Santa Cruz Municipality, which is the capital of the provincial government, and Biñan City.

Everyone dreams of having a warm and cozy home to live in. As kids, the ideal representation of this home was characterized by lush and green yards, a white house with a triangular roof accessorized with what seems to be the most comfortable place to relax in, the porch.
A porch is a covered area in the house that often connects the indoor and outdoor areas of the home. It is often characterized by its al fresco nature and convenience. While most may think of porches as something shown on either just the front or just the sides, porches can actually be taken a step further – wrap-around porches.
What is a Wrap-around Porch?
A front porch is limited to covering only one side of the house- the entrance. Similarly, side porches only cover one side of the house. While this may be enough for some, the convenience that wrap-around porches offer highly outdo those of a front porch or side porch.
Wrap-around porches were prominent during the old days of classic American houses. Having not much technology yet like air conditioners, these porches were able to provide the most breeze out of all due to its large space.
Having direct access to multiple sides of the house, wrap-around porches are mostly adored for their convenience. Especially for larger families, these porches are what enable them to have a warm get together on a lazy afternoon without having to compromise.
Should I get a Wrap-around Porch?
Wrap-around porches are generally more expensive as compared to a front porch or side porch, but for good reason. If you enjoy having a healthy breath of nature from time to time, then a wrap-around porch is definitely a worthwhile investment.
How can I get started with Wrap-around porch?
Similar to homes in general, wrap-around porches can also become a way for you to express yourself. Finding the perfect porch design for you is already a fun journey in itself. To get you started, we’ve compiled this list to give you some inspiration.
Here are some of our best design tips and tricks to incorporating a Wrap-around porch in your home:
1.) Look for the best view
You’ll be spending a great deal of your time in porches just relaxing and appreciating your environment. Naturally, you should make sure that the view your porch offers is truly one worth staring at for hours.
Given the large nature of wrap-around porches, finding your home’s top viewing spots should be a piece of cake.
2.) Decide on small or large spaces
Wrap-around porches are generally large, but some go beyond the standard and create grand porches. These include how wide your porch floor area should be, as well as how long you wish for the porch to be.
Decide on what size you wish for your porch to be, whether you’ll stick to the small porches, or go all out on extended wrap-around porches. Remember to take into consideration the furniture and items you wish for your porch.
3.) Choose a theme
Of course, the porch should have a pleasing theme. While most porches’ themes are already in conjunction with the main house, you shouldn’t skip out on this step for porches.
Porches are one of the first elements of the home that people see when they pass by. Its large impact can greatly affect the image of your home, so always put effort into the overall look of your porch. If you’re not sure on which theme to pick, we’ve got you covered.
Here’s some of the famous wrap-around porch themes with homeowners:
Farmhouse Theme
A definite classic, farmhouse wrap-around porches remain one of – if not the most famous theme of all time. These porches can be seen often in Hollywood movies, characterized by their overhanging metal roof that spans from the home’s front, all the way to the side.
With a pair of rocking chairs and swing, this porch will take you to the countryside. This theme is often paired best with lush greenery like yards.
Victorian Theme
Of course, a Victorian home should have a Victorian porch. The Victorian theme is a famous architectural style that continues to still be used to this day because of its defined esteem and prestige.
If you’re considering having a Victorian themed home, just make sure you follow it to the end as a lot of effort goes into Victorian-themed homes. Also make sure that you communicate this with your homebuilder.
Minimalist Theme
As opposed to grand themes like Victorian, some people like to keep it simple. Having little to no added blitz, a minimalistic porch often has a narrow walkway. These porches are often used for quick breaks every once in a while.
Some porches don’t even require to have a railing, which may be the case for some minimalistic porches. Rather than railings, all the space is used up for cozy seat and resting arrangements.
4.) Add furniture and decor
Porches are often used for relaxation and breathers, so you should make sure to incorporate the necessary furniture and decor to do so. Some of the common furniture found on wrap-around porches are rocking chairs, swings, and coffee tables.
Any furniture that you feel will help alleviate you of stress or enable you to have a cozy time alone or with friends can be added to your porch. Given the spacious nature of wrap-around porches, you get more freedom in choosing.
5.) Incorporate Screens
While it may be fun to visualize your ideal porch, you should also always consider the downsides to having one. Something that most homeowners and porch owners tend to overlook are the critters that you may encounter due to the outdoor nature.
This generally shouldn’t be a problem, but for families with members highly sensitive to insects, such as babies or toddlers, this could be a huge problem. One way to counteract this is by using screens. This allows you to enjoy the view and fresh breeze without having to worry about creepy crawlers harming you or your family.
Living life with comfort and class
Wrap-around porches are definitely a staple to having a comfortable home, but there are many other aspects that definite what a truly ideal home is. If you’re looking for the home of your dreams, then you’d want to check out Brittany Santa Rosa.

Woodwind instruments are typically more difficult to play than other musical instruments because they require more subtlety and control over the flow of air to produce accurate and beautiful sounds. They also require more breath support to get the best sound out of them, which is why it’s recommended that younger children start with some other kind of musical instrument before trying woodwind instruments.
Woodwind instruments are great for kids because they help build motor skills, coordination and muscle tone. Kids will have fun learning how to play these instruments at an early age because it’s easy to express themselves through music.

Fire Prevention Month is annually celebrated in the Philippines every March. Schools and governments take action to discuss and bring awareness about the common causes, hazards, and prevention of fires. The objectives of fire-prevention programs are avoiding fatalities, property loss, and building inactivity. The peak of the fire season usually begins in the middle of February and lasts for about 13 weeks. It was reported that between March 28, 2022, and March 20, 2023, there were an average of 250 fire alerts which is considered low when compared to reports from 2012. This may be a result of the Revised Fire Code of the Philippines.
