PICC converted by Villar group into a temporary COVID-19 treatment facility

The group of real estate tycoon Manny Villar has completed the conversion of the state-owned Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) into a temporary quarantine treatment facility for COVID-19 patients.

The PICC quarantine facility – which has 294 patient cubicles, six nurse stations, and six houses outside the Forum building for the health workers – was turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medical Corps on April 15.

“We are one with the Philippines in its fight against the widespread of COVID-19. Hence, we are delighted to have been able to convert PICC Forum halls to a makeshift hospital and is now ready for use ahead of schedule as this will greatly provide the optimal isolation space needed amid this pandemic,” Villar, founder, and chair of the Villar group of companies said in a press statement on Friday.

The Villar group, together with the Department of Public Works and Highways and Yuchengco-led construction firm EEI Corp., finished the job three days ahead of schedule.

The fully-airconditioned health facility at the PICC complex will serve patients with mild to moderate cases of COVID-19 and will be managed by the PNP Medical Corps.

The COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways.  It is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment.  People who have underlying medical conditions and those over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe disease and death.

Common symptoms include Fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Other symptoms include: Shortness of breath, aches, and pains, sore throat, and very few people will report diarrhea, nausea, or a runny nose.

People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate and contact their medical provider or a COVID-19 information line for advice on testing and referral.

When to Seek Medical Attention for Covid-19

If you develop emergency warning signs, get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include:

Trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face

Prevention of Covid-19

1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with an alcohol-based hand rub.

2. Maintain at least a 1-meter distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.

3. Avoid touching your face.

How to Reserve a Brittany Luxury Home Online?

Step 1: Go to the Brittany E-reservation Site

After clicking on the link, finalize your documents. Fill out the customer details in the EBIS Portal. Submit a signed copy of the Digital Quotation Sheet and Confirmation. Submit a scanned copy of two valid government IDs with signature.

Step 2: Wait for the Marketing Briefing

Once you’ve submitted the required documents, a marketing officer will call to confirm the detail on the EBIS website and the documents you’ve submitted.

Step 3: Settle Your Reservation to confirm your Brittany E-reservation

Now that your identity has been confirmed, you may now pay for your reservation through PesoPay (Credit Card) or through an online bank transfer. After you’ve paid, you may now submit the proof of payment to the marketing officer that spoke to you.

Step 4: Wait for the Admin Interview Call

Once everything has been done, a final call from an admin officer will be conducted for verification.

As the coronavirus pandemic spreads around the world, it’s a good time to understand how cleaning can help prevent the spread of disease and what you can do to cut the risk of infection in your home.

COVID-19 is a delicate structure and it is vulnerable in the environment. Both heat and detergents, including soap, can stop it functioning.

Contaminated surfaces

If a surface becomes contaminated or you think it could be, cleaning it with a common household disinfectant will kill the virus. Remember to wash your hands after cleaning (or use an alcohol-based hand rub) and avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose.

There are many options for what to use to clean, including paper towels, cloths or disposable wipes. If you are reusing a cloth, remember to wash it afterwards and let it dry. Laundering cloths in the washing machine with normal washing liquid is also likely to kill the virus, particularly on a hot wash.

Dishes and cutlery

Washing with hot water and detergent is fine for dishes and cutlery. A dishwasher is even better, because it can use hotter water than your hands will tolerate.

Clothing and linen

Wear disposable gloves when handling dirty laundry from an ill person and then discard after each use. If using reusable gloves, those gloves should be dedicated for cleaning and disinfection of surfaces for COVID-19 and should not be used for other household purposes. Clean hands immediately after gloves are removed.

If no gloves are used when handling dirty laundry, be sure to wash hands afterwards.

If possible, do not shake dirty laundry. This will minimize the possibility of dispersing virus through the air.

Clean and disinfect clothes hampers according to guidance above for surfaces. If possible, consider placing a bag liner that is either disposable (can be thrown away) or can be laundered.

Laundry from someone who is sick can be washed with other people’s items.

And remember to wash your hands immediately after touching any contaminated laundry.

Prevention is best. Remember that surfaces play a role in transmitting pathogens, so preventing them from becoming contaminated in the first place is as important as cleaning. There are some things you can do to reduce the amount of contamination of surfaces in your house:

• Cover your cough and sneezes, ideally with a tissue but otherwise into your elbow, and wash your hands immediately.

• Wash your hands often, especially after going to the bathroom and before eating.
