During a casual discussion about difficult issues, close friends had the notion to establish an institution. Given their respective financial situations, the idea was initially regarded as a “foolish joke”. However, once each member considered how they could each contribute significantly to the management of one educational institution given their educational backgrounds and professional skills, it was realized that they should be treated seriously. Indeed, on April 6, 1993, the group registered the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) as a corporation in accordance with the requirements of the Security and Exchange Commission-Baguio Branch, making it the “first private educational institution of higher learning in the BIMAK provinces!”

The Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary operates Saint Louis College of San Fernando, popularly known as SLC, a private Catholic coeducational basic and higher education school in the City of San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. The missionaries from the CICM started it in 1964.
