PEOPLE’S PARK IN THE SKY

If you’re looking for a more peaceful setting, look no further than People’s Park in the Sky. It sits at the highest point in Cavite. Formerly known as the Palace in the Sky, the place was meant to be a Guest Mansion for former US President Ronald Reagan when he was supposed to visit the Philippines, but it was canceled and rebuilt into an urban park.

Mount Sungay and Taal Volcano can be seen from the park. Its historic value is irreplaceable and most of its architecture has been kept, including the scaffolding abandoned after the canceled visit. Visitors are free to explore every nook and cranny of this historic location.

Rustic but not disturbing, ruined but still works. An abstract is still an art form even if it is not everyone’s cup of tea. They still serve the same great food and brewed beans and is the perfect place for instagrammable pictures.

TIERRA DE MARIA

For the more religious visitors, they could visit the Tierra de Maria. It is a 50-foot tall image of Mother Mary that welcomes every visitor with her comforting gaze. It is recommended that tourists be silent to pay respect to the sacred grounds.

FANTASY WORLD

Technically not in Tagaytay, the short drive to Fantasy World in Lemery, Batangas is worth making. Fantasy World is every Filipino child’s Disneyland Dream. This world of wonder and dreams was sadly abandoned by its owner when they faced financial struggles. The theme park gives off an eerie feeling that it is haunted by abandoned childhood dreams despite its bright and cheery appearance from afar. Definitely one of the best spots (not) in Tagaytay.

Honorable Mentions

Some of the most instagrammable spots in Tagaytay have closed permanently or temporarily because of the pandemic, but it doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be in this list.

1. Tabby Town Cat Cafe

If you love cats and dogs, this would have been a haven for you.

2. Gingerbread House

A cute and unique gingerbread house-shaped restaurant. They’re still open but at a limited capacity.

3. Mahogany Market

Not really seen as somewhere to take pictures at, but the art of photography can’t be stopped.
